The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into creative domains is reshaping the role of humans from primary creators to curators who guide, evaluate, and refine AI-generated outputs. This study examines how creative agency, authorship perception, and aesthetic responsibility shift within AI-assisted creative processes. Drawing on co-creativity theory, distributed cognition, and post-humanist perspectives on authorship, a cross-sectional survey was conducted among 214 artists, designers, and creative professionals using AI-based tools. Data were collected using validated measures of creative self-efficacy, perceived human–AI collaboration, authorship attribution, and technology acceptance. Statistical analyses, including descriptive statistics, correlation, and multiple regression, were used to examine relationships between AI usage intensity and perceived creative control. Findings indicate a decline in perceptions of sole authorship alongside increased engagement in curatorial and evaluative roles. Higher levels of AI collaboration were positively associated with creative self-efficacy when participants retained control over selection and final outputs, supporting a hybrid authorship model rather than a displacement narrative. The study extends co-creativity and authorship theories by demonstrating a redistribution not removal, of human creative agency. It contributes to ongoing discourse in digital arts, design pedagogy, and ethical frameworks concerning authorship, ownership, and accountability in AI-mediated creative practice.
